The Wrangler’s Upgraded Powertrain Menu

Jeep has a whole new powertrain menu for the 2021 Wrangler Sport, Sahara, and Rubicon trims. These include a 2.0L turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine with engine stop-start (ESS) technology, a 3.6L Pentastar V-6 with ESS and mild-hybrid e-Torque technology, and a 3.0L Ecodiesel engine with ESS that’s available on the four-door models.

The Wrangler 3.6L Pentastar V-6 engine with six-speed manual transmission puts out 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. This is also available with an eight-speed automatic transmission and mild-hybrid eTorque technology.

The 2.0L turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine available on the 2021 Wrangler puts out 270 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque.

The 3.0L V-6 EcoDiesel engine, available on the Wrangler four-door models, delivers 260 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque. This engine pairs with a TorqueFlite 8HP75 eight-speed automatic transmission, calibrated for low rpm shifts, to handle the increased amount of torque it produces.

New Technology Features for the 2021 Model Year

Jeep has improved on their award-winning connected vehicle platform that delivers advanced connectivity, Navigation, and communication features. The fourth-generation Jeep Uconnect^® system features Apple CarPlay^® and Android Auto^™ capability, and the choice of either the 7.0- or 8.4-inch touchscreen with pinch-and-zoom technology.

You can now opt for the TrailCam forward-facing off-road camera, available with the 8.4-inch touchscreen on the Uconnect infotainment system. This view is accessed through the available Off-road Pages app that displays real-time pitch and roll, and gauges for transmission and oil temperature, altitude, GPS location, and more.

Off-Road Plus now comes standard on the Wrangler Rubicon, giving you the ability to adjust throttle, transmission shift points, and traction control.

Over-the-Top Wrangler Capability Features

For the off-road capability to take you anywhere, the Wrangler has improved its already impressive cross-country, dune bashing, mudding, water-fording, and rock crawling capability with statistics like a 44 degree approach angle, a 27.8 degree breakover angle, a 37 degree departure angle, and a ground clearance of 10.9 inches.

The Rubicon boasts Dana 44 front and rear heavy-duty axles, the Rock-Trac NV241 two-speed or optional full-time transfer case with a 4:1 low-range gear ratio, and enhanced off-road rock rails. It also features electric front and rear locking differentials, a disconnecting front sway bar, and 33-inch BF Goodrich KM All-Terrain tires.

Must-See Wrangler Special Editions

Be the first to drive one of the Wrangler’s two new special editions. The 80th Anniversary Edition Wrangler commemorates that many years of Jeep know-how and capability. This trim features optional leather seating, Granite Crystal interior accents, a three-piece black hardtop, 18-inch wheels with a Crystal Granite finish, and commemorative exterior Jeep badging.

The Wrangler Islander is as much at home on the beach as it is on the trails. It features a multi-colored “Jeep Tiki” hood decal, interior surf-blue accent stitching, and an optional white Freedom Top^® three-piece hardtop roof with easily removable roof panels to let in as much sunshine as you desire. It also sports 17-inch wheels in 32-inch tires.
